Borges to Leave Framingham-Based Flutie Foundation
Flutie Foundation Looking for New Executive Director

The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism announced today that Lisa Borges, Founding Executive Director, will be leaving the Framingham-based foundation at year’s end. After an 18-year tenure, Borges, who has led the foundation started by football star Doug Flutie and his wife Laurie, leaves an impressive legacy in supporting families affected by autism. With Lisa at the helm of The Flutie Foundation for nearly two decades, the Foundation has helped people with autism live life to the fullest by getting access to care, leading more active lifestyles, and growing toward adult independence.
“We want to thank Lisa for her steadfast dedication, care, compassion, leadership and endless drive,” commented Board co-chairs Dave Blouin and Tina Cantu, “Lisa has helped to build the Foundation to the successful organization it is today.”
The Flutie Foundation grants funds and provides capacity building support to nonprofit organizations focused on serving the autism community. Borges leaves behind an impressive set of accomplishments, including:

• Investing more than $12 million in more than 600 service organizations and schools throughout the US and Canada to support families and children with autism.
• Launching Flutie Spectrum Enterprises, a social enterprise utilizing business principles to fulfill its social mission of employing adults with autism.

• Establishing an endowment valued over $2 million.
“Never did we think that the foundation would have grown to the scale it is today,” noted Founders Doug and Laurie Flutie. “We are indebted to Lisa for all she has done to help us realize our dream of bringing critically important services to those affected by autism.”
A national search is underway, and the Foundation is looking to find a candidate that can provide leadership for both the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation and Flutie Spectrum Enterprises (a social enterprise) with consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. The role is responsible for overall strategic and operational planning, revenue generation, grants and program management, financial management, organizational development, staff management, marketing and public relations.
