Callahan State Park Brush Fire Swiftly Extinguished

The Framingham Fire Department made quick work of a small brush fire in the state park, officials said.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A small brush fire in Callahan State Park was quickly under control thanks to swift action from the Framingham Fire and Police Departments.

The fire was reported on Wednesday night, and the fire department received assistance from the Police and Fire Drone Team to locate the exact position.

Police said the spread of the fire "was quickly stopped by fire personnel and extinguished before it got close to any residences."

The National Weather Service has issued an elevated fire risk this week as temperatures are unseasonably warm.

This comes as fires are burning in Connecticut and in multiple locations across Massachusetts this week, including in New Braintree and at Blue Hills Reservation in Milton.
