Coronavirus Testing In MetroWest: Prices, Locations

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The shortage of coronavirus tests has been a major roadblock in the United States as it fights the coronavirus pandemic. But tests are becoming more widely available, which is reflected in growing case counts. The number of local medical facilities offering tests is also increasing.

There are multiple locations in the MetroWest area offering tests right now, but they're not just for anyone. Health experts say only people who are showing COVID-19 symptoms should get a test and either call their doctor or call a testing site before leaving the house.

Here are some testing sites, as reported by the state and local health departments. These facilities are not accepting walk-up patients:

CareWell Urgent Care, 50 Worcester Rd., Framingham

Call 508-861-7375 to set up an appointment for drive-thru testing. Uninsured people pay a $185 fee for an evaluation whether tested or not.

Convenient MD, 236 Cochituate Rd., Framingham

Call 774-244-3227 to set up an appointment. Tests are only being given to the elderly who show the most common COVID-19 symptoms: cough, sore throat and shortness of breath. Out-of-pocket costs are up to $200.

AFC Urgent Care Marlborough, 38 Boston Post Rd. West, Marlborough

Call 508-658-0764 (option 5) to set up an appointment. Accepts insurance, but there's a $368 fee, including a $199 test fee.

Framingham Union Hospital, 115 Lincoln St., Framingham

Call the COVID-19 hotline at 508-383-5813 for a screening. Possible fees unclear.

Bellingham Urgent Care, 1 Wrentham St., Bellingham.

Call 508-488-5488 for a screening.

AFC Urgent Care Waltham, 1030 Main St., Waltham

Call 781-430-8161 for a screening and to make an appointment for drive-thru testing.

CVS, 720 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury

This test facility was previously only open to healthcare workers and first responders. CVS on Tuesday opened it to people over age 65 who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. Call 401-374-6777 or 855-287-2345 to set up a screening.

PhysicianOne Urgent Care, 1019 Trapelo Road, Waltham

Call 781-736-1800 to set up an appointment or screening.
