Former Framingham Doctor Pleads Guilty In Adderall Case

Leslie Caraceni, 58, was charged along with Southborough and Whitinsville residents for illegally prescribing over 100,000 Adderall pills.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — An Uxbridge doctor who used to have an office in Framingham pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges she led a scheme to sell prescriptions for Adderall.

Leslie Caraceni, 58, was charged with conspiracy to distribute and three counts of distributing and dispensing Adderall. She will be sentenced in December, and faces up to 20 years in federal prison and fines, according to prosecutors.

According to federal prosecutors, the distribution scheme began in 2016, when Caraceni hired Rene Ruliera, 52, of Southborough, and Meghan Giacomuzzi, 37, of Whitinsville, to sell Adderall prescriptions at Caraceni's Framingham office. The scheme continued when Caraceni moved her practice to Whitinsville.

Patients would meet with Giacomuzzi and Ruliera to discuss what kind of Adderall prescription they wanted. Caraceni would then charge $200 for the prescription, prosecutors said. In total, Caraceni sold about 110,000 pills through 1,500 illegal prescriptions, according to the Massachusetts Prescription Monitoring Program.

Ruliera previously pleaded guilty to drug distribution charges and will be sentenced on Sept. 8. Giacomuzzi will be sentenced in November.
