FRAMINGHAM, MA — Voters in Framingham's District 3 who want to avoid going to the polls for the upcoming special election are facing an important deadline: applications for mail-in ballots are due at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pandemic voting rules have been extended to cover the Jan. 11 special election between incumbent District 3 Councilor Adam Steiner and challenger Mary Kate Feeney. In December, a judge ordered a new election in District 3 after a recount ended in a tie.

Wednesday's deadline only applies to new absentee voters. District 3 residents who voted by mail in the Nov. 2 election will automatically get another mail-in ballot, according to the City Clerk.

  • Put the ballot in one of the city's drop boxes. Those are located at City Hall, 150 Concord St., and at the McAuliffe Branch Library, 746 Water St.
  • Hand-deliver the ballot to the City Clerk's office inside City Hall
