FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham High School Black Student Union will host a demonstration Saturday afternoon at the old Framingham center common.

Nationwide protesters that roared to life after the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor have largely subsided, but the Framingham students say they want to keep attention focused on issues like racism and police brutality.

"Our goal is to provide the community a safe place in joining the fight towards justice," the Facebook event page says. "We also want to amplify the voices of our BIPOC community members by sharing our platform with different beneficial organizations/small BIPOC owned businesses within MetroWest."

This summer, the FHS Black Student Union and the Framingham Families for Racial Equity in Education have been focused on removing school resources officers at the high school.

The Saturday event will begin with a stand-out, where demonstrators hold signs for passing traffic. There will also be speeches, and booths from different community and business groups. The event begins at 2 p.m. near 2 Oak St.
