Framingham Boy Charged With Attempted Murder in Vacation Stabbings

The 16-year-old confessed to stabbing his mother and younger brother in Florida Wednesday night, police said.

NEWTON, MA – A Framingham boy was arrested in Florida Wednesday night, accused of stabbing both his mother and 14-year-old brother.

The 16-year-old was charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder after confessing to the attacks, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said.

According to the police report, deputies responded to the Siesta Key residence shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Upon arrival, they found the suspect's mother and younger brother suffering from multiple stab wounds.

While officers rendered aid, reports came in that the 16-year-old had been located nearby after telling a neighbor his family had been stabbed and needed help.

Police said he was taken into custody without incident and provided a full confession to the crimes.

Both victims remain in the hospital in critical condition, but are expected to survive, according to police.

The Newton TAB identified the teen as a Newton South High School student, and his mother as a teacher at Mason-Rice Elementary School.
