Framingham Community Theater Presents The Dixie Swim Club

Tonight, Aug. 1 is opening night. Amazing Things Arts Center and Framingham Community Theater are staging six shows.

Then the newest production by Framingham Community Theatre - The Dixie Swim Club - might be the perfect answer.


The play is about friendship and five Southern women who met in college on the swim team and then get together every August in North Carolina over three decades. The comedic play focuses on four of those weekends.

Tonight, Aug. 1, is opening night at Amazing Things Arts Center. Tickets are still available for that 8 p.m. show.


The locally produced theatre company will stage a total of six shows - tonight, Saturday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $25, $24 for seniors and students, $22 for members and $13 for children under age 12.


The characters in the show include Sheree, the spunky team captain, who is desperately trying to maintain her “perfect” life. Dinah, the wisecracking overachiever with her career but who is struggling in her personal life. Lexie who is trying to hold on to her youth and looks and a marriage, as she has been married over and over and over. Vernadette whose life is chaotic. And Jeri who decided to become a mother very late in life.


The women rely on each other to get through life’s ups and down in their career and personal affairs.


The cast includes Kay Gross as Sheree, Tricia Akowicz as Dinah, Jyoti Daniere as Lexie, Catherine Verow as Jeri and Shelley Wood as Vernadette.


The show is directed by Cindy Bell.
