Framingham Family Hoping for Miracle: #WhyNotDevin?

Devin Suau, 6, has a rare form of cancer and an inoperable tumor on his brain stem. His family is ready for his comeback story to unfold.

When 6-year-old Devin Suau fell off his snowboard in January, his family brought him to the doctor for a possible concussion. The news they got was much worse.

Devin was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of pediatric cancer known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. Devin now has an inoperable tumor on his brain stem.

He has somewhere between 8 months and 2 years to live, his Framingham family was told.

His parents, James and Christine, are hoping for a miracle. So the Facebook group #WhyNotDevin was launched and a GoFundMe appeared, both asking why Devin can't be the first to survive this cancer which impacts between 200-300 kids a year in the U.S.

"Be part of the greatest comeback story ever told!" the Facebook page encourages.

This GoFundMe group has already earned more than $160,000 as of Wednesday afternoon. The Suaus continue to search for a cure.

Devin is the youngest of four brothers. He is as active a 6-year-old as you'll find - a soccer player, lacrosse player, and snowboarder.

"Devin has spunk and a fun personality," his family wrote the GoFundMe post. "He likes to dance and make funny faces. In fact, it’s hard to find one picture where he isn’t making silly faces. He wants to be noticed and will make himself known."

Patch hopes Devin continues to make himself known. Contribute to his GoFundMe here.
