Framingham To Give Out More Free Rapid Tests In Second Round

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham residents will have a second opportunity to get a free, at-home coronavirus testing kit in the new year.

On Tuesday, residents can visit the city's COVID-19 website on Tuesday beginning at 1 p.m. to request kits. They will be distributed on Jan. 8.

The main library, 49 Lexington St., will have computers available on Tuesday starting at 1 p.m. to allow residents to request test kits. There are a slew of rules about who can get tests, according to city officials:

• Must be a Framingham resident and be able to provide proof in the form of a driver's license, ID or piece of mail
• Residents must have an email address to find out if they've been selected to get a test
• Residents who request a kit must attest to having a financial hardship
• Limit of two test kits (four tests total) per household
• Duplicate requests for test kits will be deleted

Framingham added 474 new coronavirus cases over the past week amid an unprecedented surge in cases. There are also now close to 1,000 active cases in the city. Massachusetts broke a pandemic record on Wednesday, adding over 15,000 new cases in a single day.
