Framingham Gun Buy Back Event Saturday

Gift cards in exchange for guns? Win-win.

A gun buy back is scheduled for this Saturday in an effort to rid the community of unwanted firearms. In exchange for guns, police will be giving out gift cards.

Framingham Police, the Middlesex Sheriff's Department, the Framingham Interfaith Clergy Assoicated, the Metro West Health Foundation, and others are banding together to put on the event. It will take place from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Department of Public Works on Western Ave. The drop-off location will be the parking lot of the Capital Improvements Building.

If you can't attend, just schedule a pick-up during the following week. You can even schedule a pick-up by calling 508-872-1212.

State Police will destroy the guns turned in. Turning in a gun can be done anonymously and with no ID required or questions asked.

The value of the gift cards will depend on the type of gun: $300 gift card Assault Weapon; $150 gift card Revolver, Handgun, Semi-Automatic, Shotgun, Rifle; $50 gift card BB Gun, Pellet Gun, Ammunition

Police ask the firearms are delivered unloaded in a safe manner - in a bag, box, or case, and in the backseat or trunk.We ask all participants to bring firearms unloaded and safe to the drop-off location.
