Framingham High Drama Company Wins 5 Awards

Students Jackson Cote and Grace Graham win acting awards from the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild.

The Framingham High School Drama Company won five awards Saturday during the semifinals of the 2015 Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild’s drama festival.

However, the Framingham High Drama Company failed to make the finals this year. Framingham High had made the finals 12 of the last 13 years.

Framingham High hosted one of seven semifinal rounds Saturday, but Andover and Weymouth moved on to the finals from Framingham.

Grace Graham, for her role of Jane Sparks won an All-Star Company acting award.

Framingham High performed Vieux Carre, an autobiographical play written by Tennessee Williams.

John Llewellyn won an award for “Dramaturgy.”

Adam Skura received an award for props design and Andrew DaCosta received an award for lighting design.

During the METG competition, students must set up their stage within 5 minutes, perform within 40 minutes and take down the stage within 5 minutes during their performance. One second over and they are disqualified.

The entire production is student-designed and executed, down to the set, makeup, hair, sound, lights, and costumes.
