Framingham History Center Awarded $10,000 Grant

The grant will help the history center welcome Framingham Public Schools students during field trips, according to the MutualOne Foundation.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham History Center will use a $10,000 grant from the MutualOne Bank Foundation to support programming for school field trips, according to the organization.

Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee has announced a $10,000 grant to maintain the Framingham History Center’s relationship with the Framingham Public Schools.

According to Executive Director Annie Murphy, the Framingham History Center has high hopes that field trips and school visits will resume as normal in the new school year.

"It is such an uncertain time, and we are working to cover all eventualities," said Murphy.

"The Framingham History Center proposes to create a menu of both virtual and in-person learning for Framingham Public School students," said Sousa. "This grant should help the Framingham History Center be ready with enriching local history as teachers resume classroom instruction this fall."

The $10,000 grant to the Framingham History Center was among awards totaling $91,500 in the Foundation’s most recent round of funding.

Established in 1998 as the philanthropic arm of MutualOne Bank, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has since donated over $5.1 million to charitable, educational, and civic initiatives that improve and enrich the quality of life in Framingham, Natick, and surrounding communities.

MutualOne Bank, which operates under an 1889 state charter, has full-service offices at 828 Concord St. and 1 Lincoln St. in Framingham and at 49 Main St. in Natick, a Commercial Loan Center at 160 Cochituate Road in Framingham, and a Residential Loan Center at 49 Main St. in Natick. The Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and a member of the Depositors Insurance Fund (DIF). All deposits are insured in full.
