Girl Scouts is hoping to change that by inspiring girls to consider these STEM fields.
Sunday, March 15, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is hosting its 3rd Annual STEM Conference and Expo in Framingham at the Sheraton Hotel.

At the conference, Scouts in grades 6-12 will have the unique ability to:
- ·Engage with Speakers: State Senator Karen E. Spilka and surgeon and children’s book author Dr. Oneeka Williams.
- Connect with Influential Panel Members: Miss Massachusetts and Harvard Dental student Lauren Kunh and MIT doctoral student and inventor of Circuit Stickers Jie Qi.
- Gain Hands On Experience: Participate in STEM workshops and network with 20 exhibitors from high-ranking Massachusetts universities and businesses.
Pre-registration was required to attend the conference which starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. There is an expo for Scouts from 3 to 5 p.m., too.

STEM workshops were in 4 tracks, for both middle school and high school aged girls:
- Human Computer Interaction - Life is good
- Chemistry Track – Mix it Up
- Physics in Action Track – Making it Work
- Biology Track- Life as We Might Not Know it
