Framingham Mom Wants To Re-Create Halloween For Nephew

Last Saturday on Halloween, Nicole Siswick’s nephew Christian was all excited to go trick or treating in his Western Massachusetts neighborhood, as the Incredible Hulk.

But the joy of the holiday ended quickly, after none of the houses he visited had a treat he could eat. Christian, 2, has multiple allergies.

So this weekend, Siswick wants to re-create Halloween night for her nephew, when her sister comes to visit her in Framingham.

She is asking residents in the her Nobscot neighborhood to create a Teal Pumpkin Treat or Treat night for her nephew.

“He had a really sad Halloween because none of the houses they trick or treated at in her neighborhood had a treat that Christian could have. He’s 2.5 years old, and was so excited for Halloween. Poor little guy was really upset,” Siswick wrote in organizing the event.

Residents in the Apple D Or Road neighborhood are asked to hand out “safe” treats for Christian. Trunk or treat vehicles are encouraged to attend the event, too.

And Siswick is encouraging other Framingham children, with food allergies, to attend her event.

”If anyone else knows of a kid, or has a kid who was in the same boat on Halloween” you are welcome to join us, said Siswick. “The more the merrier.”

Families, who have children with allergies, and wish to trick or treat are asked to wear costumes.

Framingham residents who wish to offer treats for the kids in Siswick’s neighborhood are asked to purchase candy labeled as being “free of the 8 common allergens” or any non-candy treat.

“I would hope other kids can benefit from the community getting together like this,” said Siswick, who will trick or treat again with her nephews Christian and Xavier, 4, and her two children.

Siswick is looking at re-creating Halloween on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 or 6 p.m.
