Framingham Names New Public Library Director

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham Public Library has a new leader, but employees and patrons alike will recognize them.

Dawn Dellasanta has worked at the library since 2012 and, this week, completed her climb up the hierarchy to reach Library Director.

Dellasanta, along with Manual Leite, was named a finalist for the role in mid-June and recently received unanimous votes from the Library Trustees to take the director job.

In January, Mayor Charlie Sisitsky named Dellasanta as interim library director after the resignation of Director Lena Kilburn. She was the assistant director at the time.

Sisitsky said he received "dozens" of letters from library staff speaking highly of Dellasanta and recommending her for the role.

“As Interim Director, Dawn has improved staff morale, managed a time sensitive building project, and ensured that patrons were well-served,” said Library Trustees Chair Ruth Winett.

“Dellasanta has managed several emergencies calmly and efficiently, drawing upon the support of other Department Heads, as well as City Officials. The Trustees look forward to a long and successful collaboration with Ms. Dellasanta.”

A United States Marine, Dellasanta was honorably discharged in 1999 and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Framingham State University. She completed her master's degree in library and information science, with a concentration in technology, from Simmons University in 2023.

She was named assistant director of the Framingham Public Libraries in 2023 and served as
head of branch experience from 2021-23. She served as head of library technology from
2018-2022.
