Framingham Public Schools Debuts Coronavirus Testing Dashboard

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham Public Schools has rolled out a coronavirus dashboard showing where cases are occurring in schools, and the data show a relatively low number of infections with a few hundred students attending in-person classes.

The district has seen five positive cases since Sept. 1, according to the dashboard, with one each at Framingham High School, Fuller Middle School, B.L.O.C.K.S. Preschool, Potter Road Elementary and one case split between Stapleton and George King elementary schools.

As a city, Framingham has seen increasingly high numbers of cases since the fall began. All but one of the school cases was detected in November, according to the dashboard.

General education students in Framingham are attending school under a remote model. However, just under 600 students with high learning needs have returned to schools, along with about 400 teachers and staff. The district's dashboard does not say whether the positive cases are in students or staff.

About 31 people in Framingham schools have been placed under quarantine following the positive test results.

The state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education publishes a weekly report on total cases in local districts. But few individual districts publish data on cases in local schools. Last week, Wayland began included school-level data in its weekly report on coronavirus in the town. Framingham State University also updates a coronavirus dashboard each week showing cases on campus.
