Framingham Residents, Employees Participate in Build's First Entrepreneur Olympics

BUILD Boston teamed up with Mass Challenge, T3 Advisors, Plastiq, TUGG and the New England Venture Capital Association to sponsor the First-ever Entrepreneurs’ Olympics.  

The event brought out over 300 participants. 

Team USA won first place and included participants from Silicon Valley Bank, Atlas Ventures and RunKeeper; Team Israel which was comprised of Evertrue, Plastiq and CoachUp earned second place.

The objective of the event was to raise money for BUILD and TUGG through friendly yet spirited competition pitting participants against one another in a variety of challenge. 

Events included volleyball, track, relay races and others. The BUILD Olympics took place at Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. Polachi employees took part in the Olympics.

 “Watching the start-up community from around the Boston area come together and take their skills to the next level through athletic challenges was exhilarating,” said Ayele Shakur, BUILD Boston’s Executive Director. “The money raised will make a significant impact as it will go directly to supporting BUILD Boston high school students in the classroom this fall.”

Founded in 1999, BUILD believes that the power of student ideas in action drives youth to reach their fullest potential in school and beyond. The four-year high school program offers a unique blend of entrepreneurship, academics, and personal support that attracts and motivates many students who are otherwise at high risk of failing classes and dropping out of high school.
