Framingham Rotary Hosts Virtual Scholarship Awards Ceremony

Ten students from around the area earned $3,500 scholarships, but they couldn't be handed out the usual way due to coronavirus.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Another sad side effect of the coronavirus pandemic for 2020 graduating seniors: no award ceremonies for all their hard academic work.

But on Monday, the Rotary Club of Framingham did its best to honor the 10 students who each got a $3,500 college scholarship this year. The club typically hosts a luncheon to give out the scholarships.

The club hosted a Zoom video call featuring local dignitaries like state Reps. Maria Robinson and Jack Lewis, and Framingham State University President Javier Cevallos. Members of the Rotary Club's education fund held up encouraging signs for the 10 awardees, and at the end took a group Zoom photo.
