Framingham Schools Name Interim Brophy Elementary Principal

John Gibbons will serve as the interim principal for the 2023-2024 school year, stepping in for the outgoing Jessica Mandes.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Dr. Tremblay, Superintendent of Framingham Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. John Gibbons has been appointed as Interim Principal of Brophy Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year. Mr. Gibbons replaces Ms. Jessica Mandes who resigned from the District. The District will commence a full search process which will include members of the Brophy Elementary School community beginning in January 2024.

Mr. Gibbons worked as a Principal for Weston Public Schools from 2001 until his retirement in 2023, having been the recipient of the National Blue Ribbon School Award in 2021. He began his educational career as a Bilingual Teacher in California and earned his Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration from Boston College. Dr. Tremblay has had the opportunity to work directly with John during his tenure in Weston. He is an experienced, student-centered leader and a strong advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

“I have full confidence that Mr. Gibbons will continue to lead Brophy Elementary School in a way that places the student experience at the center of every decision, consistent with our district-wide efforts to ensure that every student feels a sense of belonging in their school community,” shared Dr. Tremblay, Superintendent of Framingham Public Schools. “I am also pleased to report that Ms. Liz Simon will also be present at Brophy Elementary School in support of both Vice Principals and to provide additional support to the Brophy school community as her schedule allows.”
