Framingham Schools Name New Director Of Transportation

Angela Furtado will become the next Director of Transportation after serving as the interim for the current school year.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Angela Furtado, the current Interim Director of Transportation at Framingham Public Schools, was recently named the next permanent director.

"During the unprecedented driver shortages, Ms. Furtado has displayed impeccable leadership within the department, as well as communication with families," the district said, in a news release.

"She has been empathetic, efficient, and prompt in her messages and back-and-forth with understandably concerned and, at times, frustrated families. Her even temper and compassionate demeanor have diffused many situations."

Furtado started her career as a bus driver for the Town of Framingham in 2005 and, following that, worked for Durham School Services as a CDL Instructor. As an instructor, she’s trained and licensed over 70 school bus drivers that have transported students for Framingham Public Schools.

Furtado was hired as the Assistant Director of Transportation in March of 2019 and has been serving as the Interim Director of Transportation for the 2022 - 2023 school year.

“Her days consist of messaging families about late arrivals and working collaboratively with her team and the bus company to problem-solve uncovered routes,” said Lincoln Lynch IV, Executive Director of Finance and Operations at Framingham Public Schools.

“I have full confidence that Ms. Furtado will continue to lead the Transportation Department in a way that places the student experience at the center of every decision, which is consistent with our District-wide efforts to ensure that every student feels a sense of belonging in their community.”
