Framingham Seeks Volunteers For Strategic Initiatives Committee
Three volunteers are needed for the Strategic Initiatives & Financial Oversight Committee.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — City of Framingham Mayor is advertising for three individuals for the Strategic Initiatives & Financial Oversight Committee (SIFOC).
The 9-member Committee, appointed by the Mayor, the City Council, and the School Committee, is mandated by the City Charter.

The Committee advises the Mayor, Council, and School Committee on the status of Framingham’s long-range strategic plan, the state of the municipal economy, sufficiency of municipal revenues, and “other financial matters that may from time to time be referred to it by the Mayor, Council or School Committee.”
Mayor Sisitsky has three appointees to the Committee.

The Mayor is seeking to fill vacancies in the at-large and the finance seats, now. He needs to fill a seat for a local business, that is set to expire in June of 2024.
Mayor Sisitsky is accepting applications for all three seats. Two seats will be filled in the Spring and one in June.
The application deadline for the at-large and finance seats is Saturday, March 16, 2024.

These appointments by the Mayor do not have to be confirmed by the City Council.
However, SIFOC members must be Framingham residents and shall not hold any other elected or appointed office in the municipality and shall not receive any compensation.
Each appointing authority selects one member with expertise in finance, one member who is a member of the local business community, and one at-large member.
SIFOC is responsible to submitting an annual report to the Mayor, the City Council and the School Committee.
The Mayor appoints the chair of the Committee. The current chair is Mary Kate Feeney. She was appointed by the City Council to fill the local business seat. Her term is through June 30, 2024.
