"The opportunity to be able to offer students a more affordable path to higher education is really attractive to me," she said.
"We know that fewer prospective students are accessing higher education. I hope to help promote the value of affordable higher education."
Godes is also a Framingham resident of more than 20 years.
As for the university's perspective, President Nancy Niemi said she feels confident that Godes can lead the university as it navigates a difficult period for colleges and universities.
"It’s no secret that Framingham State faces an extremely challenging enrollment environment," said Niemi.
"Iris brings expert knowledge of the Massachusetts higher education landscape, having led enrollment teams at both private and public institutions in the Commonwealth. I’m thrilled to have her join our team at FSU and confident she will help us strengthen our role as the premier public college in the region proudly serving the common good."
