Framingham State Names Next Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham State University has found its new Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities.

The university recently announced the hiring of T. Stores for the position. They will begin in the role on June 26.

This comes as a major shift for the College of Arts & Humanities at Framingham State, as Stores will replace the founding Dean Marc Cote. Cote will return to his previous position as a tenured faculty member in the Art & Music Department at FSU.

Stores comes to FSU from the University of Hartford (UHart) where they serve as the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and tenured Professor in the Department of English.

They received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Colorado and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Emerson College. Stores is currently completing doctoral studies in education in Educational Leadership from the University of Hartford, which are expected to be completed this year.

They are also the author of four books of fiction and expects to publish a fifth this year.

Stores have extensive experience in a variety of roles at the University of Hartford, from Associate Provost to Associate Dean for Curriculum and Instruction, to Director of Creative Writing, to Director of the Humanities Center, to Chair of multiple departments.

These roles have also come with awards for leadership and innovation in teaching, a news release said.

Their success in promoting anti-racist work is also evident in multiple ways, for example, their involvement in the development of effective recruitment and retention practices for faculty members identifying as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), a news release said.

“I am truly thrilled about the energy and expertise Mx. Stores will bring to the role of Dean of Arts and Humanities, and I look forward to working with them to grow and advance our work in the College,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Kristen Porter-Utley.
