The university police department is poised to welcome the English labrador retriever to its ranks. You can vote on his name until May 31.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham State University Police Department is set to welcome a new furry member of the department.

Officials announced that a corporal on the force will be the department's new K9 comfort dog handlerand that the department is also poised to receive a new comfort dog.

The new canine officer is a pure bread male yellow English labrador retriever coming to the department from Dole Hill Labradors in Danville, Vermont, officials said.

What the department is currently unsure of is what to call the little guy. That's where students, area residents and faculty come in.

The university police department has opened a survey to vote for the name of the new comfort dog, which is open until May 31.

Nine options are available to vote on. They include:

  • Lenny
  • Dakota
  • Koda
  • Tucker "Tuck"
  • Banjo
  • Nash
  • Bear
  • Beau
  • Moose
