Framingham Tree Lighting, Block Party Back For 2023

The holiday cheer spreads a little more this Friday in Framingham, as the town will host its annual holiday tree lighting and block party.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — It's beginning to look a lot like the holidays in Framingham, and it'll be even more festive after Friday.

Framingham is set to host the city's annual holiday tree lighting and block party on Friday, and residents have probably already seen this year's tree after it was delivered earlier this week.

The 32nd annual tree lighting will be a part of a holiday block party held on Union Avenue, which is scheduled from 5 to 7:30 p.m. this year. The event features "free hot cocoa and treats, music, a story walk, free books, and more," city officials said.

This year will mark the return of a beloved element of the holiday celebration when the Framingham Girl Scouts holiday sing-along takes place near the Framingham Public Library’s Bookmobile around 5:30 p.m.

The event also provides an opportunity for residents to see Santa, as he and Mrs. Claus will arrive atop a Framingham Fire Engine before the tree lighting, which is expected sometime after 6:15 p.m., city officials said.

Union Avenue will be closed from Concord Street to Proctor Street starting at 4 p.m. Vehicles parked in that area will be subject to towing.

Parking is available at the Memorial Building, the main Framingham Public Library, Danforth Building and the Pearl Street Garage, officials said. There will be handicap-accessible parking at the Memorial Building.
