Framingham Veterans Council Participating In Wreaths Across America

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Members of the Framingham Veterans Council will participate in a nationwide show of respect for America's veterans.

In what has become an annual tradition, members of the Veterans Council and other volunteers will place a holiday wreath of remembrance at each of the City’s seven cemeteries to honor deceased veterans.

The event, which will take place starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, is a mission spanning across the United States to "remember those fallen, honor those who serve, and to teach the next generation the value of freedom," according to a news release.

"I am extremely proud of our Veterans Council for continuing this annual tradition of honoring our fallen veterans. As we slow down and reflect this holiday season, I encourage residents to visit any or all of the City’s seven cemeteries to witness these wreaths and share in this remembrance," said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky.

"This is another example of some of the great work our many boards and committees do for our community – which is why I am proud to highlight it."

The Council will place the wreaths at each of the City’s seven cemeteries, including: St. Tarcisius Cemetery (Winthrop Street), Old South Cemetery (Winthrop Street), Edgell Grove Cemetery (Gove Street), St. Stephen’s Cemetery (Fenwick Street), St. George Cemetery (Cherry Street), Edwards Cemetery (Edwards Street), and Athenium Hall (Concord Street). A wreath will also be laid at Veterans Park.

“I echo the slogan for this great cause – ‘When you join this Mission, you help their memory live on. Every December, and Every Day’. This is a beautiful way to remember our 4,800+ Veterans interned within our fair City,” said Veterans Service Officer Kathleen Lang.
