Framingham Veterans Graves Need Flags, Volunteers

The Framingham Veterans Services is aiming to place more than 5,000 American flags, so it needs a lot of help.

The Framingham Veterans Services wants volunteers to help place more than 5,000 American flags at the graves of US Veterans.

On Saturday, May 13 at 9:00 a.m., volunteers are needed to help place 2,800 flags in Edgell Grove Cemetery. Edgell Grove's design and size means the Town is asking for a number of youthful, energetic volunteers. This will occur May 20 if weather doesn't cooperate.

If you are interested volunteering, just show up at Edgell Grove. If you have questions, call Framingham Veteran Services at 508-532-5515.

The idea is to get every veteran a flag. If someone is missed, please contact the cemetery superintendent or request a flag at the Veterans Service Office Room in the Memorial Building.

Flags are placed on the left side (flag’s own right) of the front of the plot’s headstone. This is done to allow cemetery personnel to mow and maintain the cemetery with minimal interference. Many times veterans are buried in family plots in the rear of the headstone. So please check the front of the headstone before getting a new flag.
