Framingham's Exhibit 'A' Brewery Holds 'Minimalist' Birthday Bash

This year, Exhibit 'A' is altering its anniversary celebration for the pandemic era.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Even in a pandemic, you're allowed to have a minimal amount of fun.

For that reason, Framingham's Exhibit 'A' Brewery will observe its 4th anniversary this year with a "minimalist" theme — a weekend celebration featuring new beer releases and food trucks with a dose of social distancing.

Exhibit 'A' opened in 2016 in the Morton Street building formerly occupied by Jack's Abby, which moved a few short blocks across the train tracks to Dennison Street. The brewery was founded by Matthew Steinberg, who worked at Amherst's High Horse brewpub before opening his own space Framingham.

Exhibit 'A' has carved its own special place as a gathering spot in Framingham — and has won accolades for its beer, including being rated top five in the state by Boston Magazine and was RateBeer's 2017 best new brewer in Massachusetts.

This weekend's anniversary bash will play out over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Morton Street taproom is closed for sit-down service, but an across-the-street beer garden has been open since July 3.

Here's the weekend anniversary party lineup:

Sept. 11, 3 to 9 p.m.

The brewer will tap a keg of "Pumpkin Cake," a pumpkin ale brewed with pieces of Hyde Park-based My Grandma's of New England Coffee Cake. The brewery will also feature a keg of wild ale brewed in 2019 featuring Nelson Sauvin hops, orange zest and kiwi. The Sweet Tomatoes food truck will be serving pizza.

Sept. 12, 2 to 9 p.m.

In advance of the approaching colder months, Exhibit 'A' will tap a vintage keg of the high-alcohol scotch ale "We're Going To Need You To Come In On Saturday!" Baja Taco Truck will serve food, and three DJs will rotate through two-hour sets.

Sept 13, noon to 5 p.m.

A break from the brewery's tradition of pint service: The main event will be four different sour ales — pineapple mango, sour cherry, kiwi raspberry ginger, and All The Barry's — served as a flight. Food by Jaju Pierogi.
