Framingham's Perini Building To Hit The Market
The city is now left to explore new options to house the School Department.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Perini building at 73 Mt. Wayte Avenue will hit the market soon. The city announced on Thursday Perini Management Services’ intent to list the building on the market. This coincides with the ending of Framingham's lease for the School Department in the Perini building — the lease ends in January 2020.
The mayor's office issued a statement that the city plans to explore its options to relocate the School Department. Plans to have the Perini building appraised are in the works. The School Department occupies 20,000 square feet of the Perini building, and the City pays $356,000 a year to lease the space.
Framingham School Department's administrative staff moved into the Perini Building four years ago after the King Building was reopened as King Elementary School. The city signed a five-year lease.

The city may run into the same issue it had while trying to relocate the Health Department earlier this month — a lack of useable, city-owned building. When Spicer was addressing the Health Department relocation, she highlighted that in years past, the town neglected to maintain many of the buildings it owned, leaving the city now with few useable options.
