Framingham State Men's Rugby continued their unbeaten season with a brilliant display of quality rugby this past Sunday, with a 67-0 defeat of a strong and big Lydon State College. The Rams scored 11 tries against the Hornets of upper Vermont with a display of skill and power.
The pitch at Keefe Tech was perfect, slightly wet, with a swirling wind as the match began. The wind allowed Framingham to use their kicking game and to drive the ball deep into Lydon territory and then invite the Hornets to make up the lost ground. Although Lydon was physically larger, they couldn't penetrate the FSU defense, and quickly turned the ball over to a team that prides its self in keeping possession through multiple phases of play. Through an opening series of 12 phases, the Rams put together a solid drive ending in a score between the posts that was easily converted.
The contest was balanced well into the fist 40 minute half when Lydon's lack of fitness began to show, and the Rams soon exploited the opportunities given. At then end of the first half the score was 34-0.

In the second 40 minutes, the new and emerging players had an opportunity to shine, as 6 of the starting 15 players were replaced. The "rookies" did well scoring a near equal amount of points to finish the match 67-0. Most importantly, they maintained a stiff defense and didn't allow Lydon State to score.
In true rugby brotherhood, after the match both teams shared a meal and socialized, reinforcing the bonds of respect and comradeship essential to rugby.
