High Heat Prompts Early Release For Framingham Schools Thursday

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Summer break may be over for Framingham students, but that doesn't mean the summer heat has dissipated.

As the state is set to experience high heat that could reach record high temperatures on Thursday, Framingham Public Schools officials have announced an early release day.

The district has also canceled all afternoon and evening school activities on Thursday due to the excessive heat. This includes athletic events, which proves interesting for the Framingham High School football team, which opens the season on Friday.

Framingham High School will be released at 10:45 a.m. while the Thayer Campus will be released at 10:50 a.m.

Students at all three middle schools in Framingham will be released at 11:40 a.m.

Elementary school students at Stapleton, Potter Road, King, Harmony Grove, Brophy and Barbieri will be released at 12:55 p.m. while students at Dunning and Hemenway will be released at 1:05 p.m. McCarthy Elementary students will be released at 12:05 p.m.

The district instructed elementary school parents on pickup procedures for their students:

"Elementary parents, please make sure your child is met at their bus stop. Kindergarten students will not be dropped off and will be returned to their school if there is not a parent, guardian, or older sibling at the bus stop. Parents or guardians will be expected to pick up any returned students immediately."
