How Will AI Affect MetroWest? Framingham State Tries To Deliver The Answer

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Artificial intelligence seems to be on the minds of everyone these days, so a public discussion Thursday at Framingham State University is timely.

The school’s MetroWest Economic Research Center will host its 33rd annual conference, bringing together government, business and technology leaders to discuss how AI is reshaping the area’s economy.

The conference, “AI and the Future Economic Prosperity of Greater MetroWest: Disruption and Opportunity,” will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the McCarthy Center, 100 State St., on the Framingham State campus. The event is free and open to the public, though registration is required.

Jason Snyder, who heads the state’s Executive Office of Technology Services and Security, will deliver the keynote address. U.S. Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., is scheduled to provide recorded remarks.

Panelists will include state officials and representatives from Fidelity Investments, MassTech’s MassCyberCenter and the Framingham Economic Development Corp.

Organizers said the conference will focus on the opportunities and challenges AI presents for employers, workers and local communities across the MetroWest region.

MERC researchers have also been studying how local businesses are adopting AI technologies and how those tools could affect workforce development and economic growth.
