Intoxicated Man Walks In Middle Of Route 126, Assaults Cops
The incident happened Monday morning near the Dairy Queen along Route 126 in Ashland.
ASHLAND, MA — Ashland police were involved in a confrontation with a possibly intoxicated man along Route 126 Monday morning, according to police. The incident began when the man was seen walking in and out of traffic.
Just before noon, several Ashland officers responded to near the Dairy Queen south of the Framingham line. When police approached the man he "became combative" and assaulted several officers.
Ashland police K9 Ajax was brought to the scene, and the man surrendered after seeing the dog, police said. He was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation, and will appear in court on a charge of assault and battery on an officer. Neither the officers nor the suspect were injured, police said.

This is the second confrontation for Ashland police recently. On Thursday, Spencer Keene, 27, of Norwood, was arrested after he threatened to give coronavirus to several public works employees by spitting on them, according to CBS Boston. Keene then threatened to infect the officers who arrived to arrest him, according to the report.
