Massachusetts author Henry G. Brechter’s novel Louis and the Ghost is a supernatural character-driven tale. The book, described by Dog Ear Publishing as the first in a series, is the tale of a boy befriending a ghost trying to escape purgatory.

Brechter will make an appearance at Barnes and Noble Booksellers in Shoppers World in Framingham on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Published in October 2013, the 268-page book “is a clever and unique blend of the supernatural and history - with a unique twist in that it exposes the Civil War immigrant soldiers’ plight. The careful research and historical fact are woven into a story that focuses on family and family relationships, giving it depth and soul,” according to Dog Ear Publishing.

The author has made the Bay State his home for the last 40 years. His personal passions include the study of history, genealogy, and the paranormal. He holds a master’s degree with three specialties in history.
