ASHLAND, MA — A Massachusetts woman was arrested today in Ashland and charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer during the Jan. 6 riots at the United States Capitol.

Court documents state that Starer is among the rioters to illegally enter Capitol grounds, entering the building through the East Rotunda Doors. Body camera video from Metropolitan Police Department officers shows Starer approaching an officer and making contact with them at 2:59 p.m. Then, in a separate incident, Starer struck an officer, according to those documents.

Minutes later, surveillance video showed Starer exiting the Capitol.

Photos included in a criminal complaint show Starer wearing red colored clothing, including a red hat with blue and white stripes with the word "Trump" and number 45 written on it, a red jacket, red scarf, and a backpack.

The MPD officer who Starer is alleged to have struck stated in interviews "that a blonde woman wearing a red jacket and hat punched her in the left side of her head," according to the criminal complaint.

According to the officer, "her Sergeant pulled her back to check on her, Officer M.B. told the Sergeant she had been punched by the woman, and the Sergeant told her to return to the line. Officer M.B. stated that the blonde woman came at her again, and Officer M.B. struck the woman in response," the complaint read.

When showed video footage of Starer, the officer told the interviewer that she recognized Starer as the woman who hit her.

According to the criminal complaint, Starer is a registered physician in Massachusetts enrolled as a provider in the Medicare program.

That same complaint also states that records from the Kimpton George Hotel show that she reserved a room there from Jan. 5 to Jan. 7, 2021.

According to the DOJ, close to 900 individuals have been arrested in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol, including over 270 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.

Among those 900 people are a former Natick Town Meeting member.

Suzanne Iannientered into a plea agreement in September with federal prosecutors on charges of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. She had previously pleaded not guilty to those charges.

A federal judge Friday sentenced Ianni to 15 days of incarceration, 30 months of probation, 60 hours of community service and to provide $500 in restitution to the government, according to a spokesman for the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia.
