Magic Mushroom Operation Shut Down After Framingham Bust

The MetroWest Drug Task Force recovered $37,000 and "hundreds of pounds" of growing and dried mushrooms, officials said.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — "Hundreds of pounds" of psilocybin mushrooms were seized or destroyed during a recent Framingham drug bust, local police said.

The MetroWest Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a single-family home they say was used to cultivate, package and distribute the drug, also known as magic mushrooms.

"A search warrant was served on the address and a large-scale grow was discovered," Framingham police said.

"Ultimately, hundreds of pounds of growing and dried mushrooms were either seized or destroyed, and the grow was dismantled."

Officials also recovered $37,000 in profits as well as drug packaging material like a pill press during the search.
