Maj. General Killed in Afghanistan Spent Military Time Working in Natick

The highest-ranking American officer killed in combat since 1970 was a commanding general of the Natick Soldier Systems Center. Maj. General Harold Greene was among an attack by Afghan ally sources that also wounded a German general, and wounded about seven or eight Americans, leaving them in serious condition, reported the Boston Globe.

A gunman from the Taliban opened fire on Camp Qargha, west of Kabul, where Afghan forces are trained, said ABC News.

The soldier, Rafiqullah, who killed Greene then hid in the bathroom before he was killed, according to CBS News, which also said that Greene’s body was being prepared to be flown back to the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
