Market Basket, Wegmans: Grocery Stores Open On Labor Day

FRAMINGHAM, MA — If you're planning a Labor Day celebration, trips to the grocery store are already being made. Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop and are among the popular grocery store chains that have stocked up for the Monday holiday celebrating workers, which falls on Sept. 6 this year.

It's almost inevitable that a supply of condiments, hot dogs, potato chips and other Labor Day weekend party classics will be forgotten on the day. Luckily for last-minute shoppers, the majority of grocery stores in the area will still be open to help out.

Below is a list of chain grocery stores in Massachusetts that will be open on Labor Day, along with at least one that won't. Store holiday hours are subject to change, so call ahead before heading there.

  • Aldi: Stores will have limited hours. Hours will vary by location.
  • BJ's Wholesale Club: Most locations open Labor Day
  • Big Y: Massachusetts locations open regular hours
  • Costco: Costco will be closed on Labor Day
  • CVS: Some CVS stores may have reduced hours, most pharmacies will remain open
  • Dollar General: Some stores may have adjusted hours
  • Hannaford: Marlborough, Leominster and Uxbridge locations open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Market Basket: Open regular hours
  • Price Chopper/Market32: Open regular hours
  • Rite Aid: Will be open for regular hours
  • Roche Bros.: Open regular hours
