McAuliffe Charter Public School Selected For Audubon Rivers Program

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Christa McAuliffe Charter Public School is delighted to announce its selection to participate in the esteemed Audubon Rivers School Program. This free, three-year initiative, spearheaded by the renowned Audubon Society, will provide enriching experiences for students and teachers alike, enhancing the school's 7th-grade science curriculum and fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship.

The Audubon Rivers School Program offers a comprehensive approach to environmental education, focusing on local watersheds and their significance. Through hands-on activities in the classroom and immersive field experiences, students will explore topics such as the water cycle, water quality and quantity, food chains and webs, habitats and ecosystems, and the impact of human activities on the environment.

Throughout the three-year program, students at Christa McAuliffe Charter Public School will have the opportunity to participate in two field trips to a local watershed each year. These trips will be complemented by four visits from ecology specialists, including one featuring "river animal ambassadors," providing students with firsthand encounters with local wildlife.

In addition to benefiting students, the Audubon Rivers School Program also offers significant professional development opportunities for teachers. Each year, educators will attend a professional development day where they can collaborate with colleagues from other participating schools, share best practices, and further develop their skills in environmental education.
