Michaels Store Leaps To Framingham From Natick

The Michaels store moved across Route 9 into the space vacated by an A.C. Moore crafts store.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — It might be time to change the name of Framingham's Shoppers World to Crafters World.

The Natick location of Michaels closed recently and moved just across Route 9 to a space at Shoppers World that was formerly an A.C. Moore store. Shoppers World is also home to a new Hobby Lobby, which opened last December.

The Natick location at 1398 Worcester Road was open until October. The store moved across the street and reopened last week, according to the company.

When A.C Moore announced last November that it would close all of its stores across the nation, including locations in Bellingham and Worcester, Michaels said that it would take over some of the leases — but no specifics were released at that time.

This is the latest in a series of changes at Shoppers World over the past year. The John Harvard's Brew House closed in October after 24 years. Pier 1 closed its store in the plaza earlier this year along with half of its stores in the U.S.
