MutualOne Foundation Awards $7,500 to Jewish Family Service

Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, announced the Foundation has awarded $7,500 to Jewish Family Service of Metrowest to support the continuation of a Patient Navigator pilot program focusing on health and wellness for seniors in Framingham, Natick, and adjoining communities.

The Patient Navigator program provides trained volunteers to accompany local seniors in need of assistance to doctors’ appointments and medical procedures, providing a written summary of each appointment for the benefit of the patient and his or her family’s caregiver. The volunteers also assess the vital needs of the patients they serve and facilitate access to additional resources and services required by the patient through Jewish Family Service or from within the community.

“MutualOne’s continuing support allows Jewish Family Service to stand up for frail elders who have significant health and community challenges. Patient Navigator is a one of its kind program in Metrowest, and we are appreciative of the Foundation’s courage to support a new model for caring for our community’s frail elders,” said Marc Jacobs, CEO, Jewish Family Service of Metrowest in a press release.

“We were pleased to provide Jewish Family Service with a 2013 grant that helped make the medical escort program operational,” said Lamprey in a release. “We are impressed with the program’s success, and happy to contribute to that success.”

The grant to Jewish Family Service of Metrowest was among awards totaling $101,065 in the Foundation’s most recent round of funding.

Since it was established in 1998, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has donated over $2.8 million to charitable, educational, and civic initiatives that improve and enhance the quality of life in Framingham, Natick, and surrounding communities.
