Nominate A Framingham Senior For CoA Heroes Awards

The awards are open to anyone over age 60 who has made a difference in civic life.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Nominations are now open for this year's Senior Heroes awards. The awards are for local residents over age 60 who have made a difference across different aspects of civic life.

The Framingham Council on Aging is excited to announce its second annual Framingham Senior Heroes Award. Framingham is a multicultural community with a long history of welcoming people of all backgrounds and ethnicity groups. These awards are given to Framingham residents 60+ years old whose volunteer efforts of valuing diversity and contributing significantly to the inclusivity of Framingham are judged to be most worthy, in one of the following categories:

  • Culture/Arts: Performing arts, painting, poetry, playwriting, music, dance, etc. that celebrate diversity and inclusivity.
  • Social Development: Programs that improve or promote positive interactions among people from different ethnic groups, abilities, ages, gender identities; such as sports, after school programs, special events or other activities.
  • Health or Health Care: Efforts that focus on the populations whose access has been limited, due to race, gender, gender identity, language spoken, disability status, etc.
  • Public Service: Contributed in this way with their volunteer service on any of the boards, councils or committees in the City, or Town Meeting or former elected officials.

Note on public service nominations: Exclude individuals currently holding political or municipal employment positions. Former public officials or people not currently employed by the city and residing in Framingham may be nominated for volunteer efforts that show they value diversity and inclusivity.
