Purple Passion 5K Fundraiser In Framingham Saturday

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A 5K that supports local nonprofits aiding domestic violence and rape survivors will step off Saturday morning in Framingham. The Purple Passion 5K will also include a round of speeches from local elected officials.

Voices Against Violence (VAV), the South Middlesex Opportunity Council’s (SMOC) domestic violence agency and rape crisis center serving 14 communities in the greater Framingham and Marlborough areas of MetroWest, will host an in-person and virtual edition of its 11th annual Purple Passion 5K Walk/Run fundraiser on Saturday with opening ceremonies starting at 7:30 a.m.

In person registration will begin at 7 a.m. at the side parking lot at SMOC headquarters, 7 Bishop St. Kick-off ceremonies will begin at 7:30 am, featuring an inspirational talk by a domestic violence survivor. Other speakers will include Senate President Karen Spilka, state Sen. Becca Rausch, state Rep. Danielle Gregoire, Framingham Mayor Charles Sisitsky, SMOC CEO and President Susan Gentili, and Rachel Baltazar, Director of Voices Against Violence.

The 2022 Purple Passion fundraiser will feature an in-person timed 5K race and casual
walk.

• 7:30 a.m. Kick-off ceremony begins with an inspirational messagefrom a domestic violence survivor.
• 8 a.m. – Timed race and casual walk begin
• 9 a.m. Closing ceremonies - Medals will be presented to the top male, female and non-binary/all gender/agender, in-person timed runners, in addition to the top in-person age group finishers. Raffle winners will be announced
