Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Doughty Town Hall In Framingham

Republican Chris Doughty will hold two town hall meetings in early August to field questions from voters.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A 2022 Republican candidate for governor will visit Framingham in early August for the first of two town hall events planned across the state.

Businessman Chris Doughty said he's hosting the Tuesday Framingham forum — and a second in Springfield on Aug. 10 — due to his opponent's unwillingness to meet for a debate.

"Voters need to know where candidates stand on the issues, so we will be holding public forums to take direct questions. Unlike my GOP opponent, I am not going to hide from the media or hide from debates," he said in a news release.

The town hall meetings will precede the Sept. 6 Republican primary, where Doughty will face off against former state lawmaker Geoff Diehl. The winner will go on to face Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey in the November election.

Doughty's town hall will take place at the Framingham Sheraton, 1657 Worcester Road, on Aug. 2 at 6 p.m.
