Republican Passage of the Strategic Production Response Act Statement

Washington, D.C. – The following statement was released by Democratic Whip Katherine Clark following House Republicans’ passage of the Strategic Production Response Act:

“Once again, House Republicans are doing the bidding of their friends in Big Oil instead of looking out for the American people. This legislation will raise gas prices and impede the President’s ability to continue lowering costs at the pump for working families.

“What’s more, it perpetuates our reliance on fossil fuels, threatening our long term economic and national security. House Republicans’ allegiance to special interests has again come at the expense of leading America toward a stronger, more sustainable future.”
