Seat Open On Framingham Schools Financial Oversight Committee

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham School Committee is looking for a volunteer from the business community to join a key oversight board. The position is opening up as Framingham enters uncertain financial territory due to coronavirus.

The volunteer would serve on the nine-member Strategic Initiatives and Financial Oversight Committee (SIFOC), which deals with "the state of the municipal economy, sufficiency of municipal revenues, and other fiscal matters that may from time to time be referred to it by the mayor, City Council and School Committee."

  • SIFOC members may not hold any other elected or appointed office with the City of Framingham.
  • SIFOC members receive no compensation of any kind.
  • SIFOC will report annually to the mayor, City Council and School Committee and shall file all of its reports with the City Clerk.

Anyone interested in the volunteer spot can apply through the School Department website. The applicant must be a member of the Framingham business community in some capacity.
