"I am thrilled to be partnering on a community COVID-19 vaccination clinic hosted, once again, at Harmony Grove Elementary School," said Framingham Superintendent Robert Tremblay said. "Getting our community vaccinated is among the most important public health and safety steps that we can take to one day put this virus and its variants behind us."

All three vaccines will be available at the clinic, and both first and second doses will be administered. The FDA-approved Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be available for students 12 years of age and older, while the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available for anyone 18 years and older.

Although all are welcome, the clinic hopes to vaccinate as many students as possible.

"There are many reasons to get your child the COVID-19 vaccine. It's been proven to be safe and effective for this age group," Framingham Public Schools Director of Health and Wellness Judith Styer said. "Even though children and adolescents are generally at lower risk than adults of becoming severely ill or hospitalized from COVID-19, it's still possible to get sick with mild or no symptoms and spread the disease to others."

Students must be accompanied by an adult and parental consent forms are required for children 12 and up receiving the Pfizer vaccine. Parental consent forms in multiple languages are available at at MetroWest Pharmacy's web site. Printed forms are available at Harmony Grove and the Framingham Public Schools Welcome Center. Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, and Hindi consent forms and translators will be available at the vaccine clinic.

Residents can pre-register for appointments online at MetroWest Pharmacy's website. However, appointments and pre-registration are not necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. The COVID-19 vaccine is free. Residents can get a vaccine even without insurance, a driver's license, or a Social Security number. Identification is not required.

Safe and comfortable accommodations will be made for children and adults with autism and other sensory disorders. For sensory-friendly vaccinations, please contact Framingham Coronavirus Community Outreach group founder Nicole Doak at 508-596-4846 or at framinghamoutreach@gmail.com.

"Being vaccinated will slow the spread of the virus and allow kids to get back to the things they have missed — in-person school, playing with friends, and participating in sports," Styer said. "And, it adds an additional layer of protection for unvaccinated younger siblings and other children who can't get the vaccine."

The follow-up second dose vaccine clinic will be held on Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon at Harmony Grove Elementary School.
