FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham is one of nine communities in the state that will get a MassDOT "Safe Routes To School" grant to make it easier for students to walk, bike and roll to school.

Framingham's approximately $850,000 grant will be used at Harmony Grove Elementary along Leland Street. The grant will fund the installation of new sidewalks along Second Street and Taralli Terrace, and realign the intersection of Beaver Park Road and Taralli Terrace to include pavement marking, Americans with Disabilities act compliant ramps and crosswalks.

The funds will come through the federal fiscal year 2026 State Transportation Improvement Program budget. MassDOT did not immediately say how much the Harmony Grove project would get, but did say grants range from $300,000 to $1.5 million for design and construction.
