On Saturday, September 12th, from 9am – 1pm, Memorial Congregational Church in Sudbury is holding its Fall electronics recycling and document shredding event. The event is open to all communities and will be held rain or shine. At the electronics recycling truck, prices vary from $25-50 for a TV, $15 for a laptop computer, $15-25 for a computer monitor, $5-$40 for appliances, and $5 for a box of electric cords. Volunteers will remove the items from your vehicle and place them in the recycling truck which is operated by a state-licensed electronic recycling company who will properly dispose of them. They will accept ANYTHING WITH A CORD OR BATTERY (including washing machines, air conditioners, treadmills, etc.) as well as propane tanks, any type of battery, printer ink cartridges, and toner cartridges.
The fee for shredding continues to be just $9 per copy paper box or brown grocery bag. A volunteer will remove your boxes or bags of documents from your car and your documents will be shredded on-site. The truck is equipped with closed-circuit TV so you can actually watch the shredding take place if you wish. Personal and business documents of any type may be shredded.
You may pay by cash, check, or VENMO.
We will also be collecting CLOTHING donations to sell at MCC’s Thrifting Market which will be held September 24th-26th.

For the well-being of the bird population, we will provide birdseed for everyone to cast into the water.

On Sunday, September 13, at 10 am, Edwards Church, United Church of Christ will hold a Blessing of the Animals. The service will be held outdoors, under our tent at 39 Edwards Street. All God’s creatures are invited to attend.Please be sure dogs, cats, and other beloved animal companions are appropriately restrained and have plenty of their favorite treats.Pictures of animals, including those who have gone on to “sainthood,” can also be brought along for a blessing.
The Blessing of the Animals is a tradition that dates back to the 13th century, when Francis of Assisi preached to the birds, inspired a wolf and a town to mutual respect, and taught the sacredness of all of God’s creation.
 Members of the bluegrass-folk group On the Fence will offer lively, inspiring music.

Ephraim Curtis Middle School

On Sunday, September 20th, Sudbury will host our third inaugural <a href="https://kids.pmc.org/sudbury" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride</a>.&nbsp;Our ride is a 1-mile loop that riders may enjoy as long as they would like. The one mile course is entirely paved and loops through the beautiful residential neighborhoods of historic Sudbury. Parents are welcome to ride with their children but it is not required. If a parent chooses to accompany their child on the bike, we ask that they register as volunteers.&nbsp;
Many kids choose to ride the loop 3-6-12 or even 15 times. We encourage riders to participate as long as they would like. We will have special badges for riders who accomplish 5-8-12 and 15 miles, too! Please indicate at registration an estimate of your rider's total distance (this will help us for event organization).&nbsp;There is also an enclosed parking lot loop all starting from Curtis Middle School in Sudbury, MA. (Adults may opt to register as volunteers if they would like to ride with the kids). Before the ride there will be music and bike decorating; during the ride and following there will be an Ice-Cream Truck, Food Truck, Coffee Truck, huge bouncy castle, lawn games, music and more. All registered riders will get a free ice cream from our friends at Trombetta’s Farm Ice Cream. Registration takes place from 8:30am-9:45am. The ride is from 10:00am-11:30am, and food and games will be available from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
“The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Always held the first weekend in August, the PMC raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research. Each summer, thousands of riders and volunteers from 43 states and 12 countries participate in the PMC, all with a common goal: to find a cure for cancer.
100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and is 62 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber.”
The Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride empowers young participants to contribute to a meaningful cause while enjoying a fun activity. By offering multiple course options, every child will have the opportunity to participate and make a difference - regardless of age or ability. Each ride distance is carefully planned to be safe and enjoyable, with designated routes through historic Sudbury neighborhoods that are well-marked and closely monitored by volunteers. For the youngest participants, the tot lot loop provides a secure environment where kids can ride in a contained area - strollers, scooters, tricycles are ALL welcome!
Beyond the joy of bike riding, the Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride serves as a powerful educational experience for children, teaching them about the impact of collective efforts in fighting cancer. As they pedal for a purpose, they learn about empathy, community involvement, and the importance of supporting breakthroughs in treatment and cures at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This event not only raises crucial funds for cancer research but also instills valuable life lessons in the young riders; collectively we all pedal towards a more cancer-free future. As with all PMC rides, every penny donated goes directly to cancer treatment and research at Dana-Farber.
